What is quarantine?

When one refers to "quarantine", in a healthcare setting, they are referring to the separation of an individual or a group of individuals from others. These individuals may be compelled to stay in quarantine for the sake of public health. Quarantine is a tactic used to limit the spread of a disease from the infected or potentially infected to the healthy.

Quarantines can vary in longevity. Many times, a quarantine lasts only as long as it takes for the exposed to dispose of their garments and take a decontamination shower. Quarantine types and techniques vary across the globe. Some locations have much stricter standards than others.
