What is a case nurse?
A case nurse, or case management nurse, is a health care professional who assists physicians in creating health plans for patients. They often work to coordinate medication, research and analyze data, and track a patient's progress. These actions allow the case nurse to efficiently formulate a care plan for their patients. Case nurses deal more with behind the scenes, administrative work, such as patient advocation with insurance and other financial support systems.
Case nurses ensure that patients receive their necessary care. They schedule appointments and explain care options. Their job is, essentially, to promote the well-being and interest of the patient.
