Healthcarepedia (http://healthcarepedia.org) is a project to create a free, complete, up-to-date, and reliable educational guide to U.S. healthcare. It is collaboratively built by dedicated students, academics, and professionals who wish to improve health and wellness through better literacy of healthcare--fostering understanding of how care is delivered, managed, and governed. It is not intended as a source of medical advice or to inform health decisions.

The mission of Healthcarepedia:

  • Create an easily accessible, accurate, and objective source of information about healthcare
  • Empower individuals by equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge in order to understand and effectively interact with the U.S. healthcare system

Healthcarepedia:Mission & Goals

Healthcare in the U.S. is a complicated system of complex organizations with oftentimes difficult to understand goals and relationships. An expert in one area of healthcare, may only be peripherally familiar with other parts of the system. The mission of the Healthcarepedia Project is to promote understanding by fostering the sharing of collective healthcare expertise from a diverse set of disciplines and perspectives. Knowledge should be communicated in an objective, accurate, and readily accessible manner. When possible, the Heathcarepedia Project should inspire collaboration towards simple and clear communication.

Individual health is directly affected by perceptions, decisions, and behaviors towards healthcare. A source of trusted and high-quality information on healthcare will improve individual health through knowledge and informed action.

Healthcarepedia is a not-for-profit, non-partisan, non-commercial effort. It is supported through volunteer efforts and donations.
